Join us in TEMPE every Sunday morning at 8:50 for Sacred Space or 10:00 for our traditional service.

The concept of Second Sundays grew out of a retreat that took Dayspring’s 25-member Covenant Council on a transformative journey to envision a renewed Sunday morning experience. Small groups, using data from our all-church survey, came up with a variety of ideas, contemplating a diverse array of Sunday services, each tailored to various spiritual needs and outlooks. We hope Second Sundays may eventually grow into an assortment of activities like yoga, fellowship groups, Bible study, contemplative prayer sessions, food, and maybe even “Messy Church” for families with young children.

APRIL 14 SCHEDULE:

UNITED METHODIST MEN

8:15am ~ Palo Verde Room

Dayspring’s United Methodist Men host a social hour open to all with coffee and donuts, music by the Dayspring Pickers and special musical guests, and a program on a topic of interest.

DROP-IN LABYRINTH WALK

Starting at 9:00am ~ Labyrinth

Facilitators will be on hand from 9:00-9:50am to answer questions and orient those new to the labyrinth. Those who wish may walk the labyrinth in the courtyard or sit indoors with a handheld labyrinth. Our labyrinth can be found in the northeast corner of the courtyard.

The labyrinth is not a maze. There are no dead ends or wrong turns. It’s a single path that meanders around, starting at the outside and ending at the center. People walk it to pray, to meditate, or just as a way to get grounded and de-stress. It is a way to quiet the mind, open the heart, and ground the body to make space for God.

Please join us for a different program each month on Second Sundays.

FAITH UNPLUGGED

11:30 ~ Fellowship Hall

Faith Unplugged is a service where conversation brings people together through faith, inclusivity, experience, and culture. Join us as we unplug a different topic each month.

LOVE LESSONS

11:30 ~ Palo Verde Room

Love Lessons is intended to address major issues of couples, married or partnered. A topic will be presented for five to ten minutes, and then a discussion will follow among the group members. Though the topics will be led by a professional psychologist and informed by education, training, and experience, it is not therapy. Rather, it will be a learning experience to bring awareness to the issues and skills in primary relationships. As a community that values love, we will be looking at the unique issues for loving couples.

Our facilitator, Gary Lovejoy, received a Ph.D. from Arizona State University and has over 43 years experience as a Licensed Psychologist. Whether or not you are in a primary relationship, please join us. Your unique experiences and perspectives are welcome.
