There will be a special ADVENT LESSONS AND CAROLS SERVICE at 2:00pm on Sunday, December 12. This will feature members of both adult choirs, the youth choir, and the handbell choir along with Robert Mills, piano, and Norman Jenson, organ. We will hear the Christmas story recounted from scripture interspersed with beautiful songs and hymns. These include such beloved favorites as “In the Bleak Midwinter” by Harold Darke and “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming” by Michael Praetorius alongside such newer pieces as “Come, Expected Jesus” by noted Black American composer Victor C. Johnson and “Infant Redeemer” by Anna Laura Page. Hymns include “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful” with stirring descants, and of course “Silent Night.” Hearing the music as we tell the story adds an unsurpassed depth of meaning: this is not to be missed!
